Hello all,

I’ve had a lot of very interesting conversations with self-funded searchers at various stages over the past few months, so wanted to post a “re-introduction” in case I can be helpful to any of you.

By way of background - I joined Searchfunder a few years ago as I had a strong interest in ETA for the next stage of my career. After 25+ years spent mostly in principal investing and investment banking, split between the US and Middle East, I wanted to do something entrepreneurial. I ultimately decided around 6 months ago that I would rather invest with and provide support to searchers rather than be the sponsor / CEO myself. I made 2 investments in Q4 and have another that hopefully closes in the next month, and am eagerly looking for more opportunities in which to invest. I have a real passion for ETA and the search model, and a strong conviction in the SME asset class, so am looking to connect with self-funded searchers at any stage of their search to build my network.

So - if you have a deal under LOI, or close to LOI, or under IOI, or close to IOI, or you just want to talk shop about ETA, M&A, search funds, etc., feel free to reach out. No strings attached as I truly enjoy this. If it turns into an investment opportunity for me at some point, that’s great, but either way I learn something from each conversation, and hopefully I am able to leverage my background to provide some helpful support as well. Feel free to DM me or email me at redacted and we can arrange a time to speak.

This is mainly targeted to searchers; Robert is an investor on my deal (one of the two mentioned that he closed in Q4). BUT, Robert is not just an investor, he's truly a mentor and an incredible resource (also was beyond helpful during my search). I can't speak highly enough of Robert and his wisdom and experience. He was involved intimately with the investor docs, deal structure, and helped me think through and refine my acquisition structure as a rather complicated structure (stock sale with F-Reorg in a construction industry). Robert was very generous with his time and provided commentary that was very friendly to me, the searcher, while maintaining the investor hat on. If anyone wants to connect directly and have a deeper insight into my deal or need a reference for Robert, please feel free to reach out via email at redacted or ping me here.

Thank you,
Heyaw

Thanks for the tag, ^redacted‌. Robert may not be a fit for us if he's directly investing in self-funded search deals (but then I guess you never know!?), but I'm sure some folks who happen across this post might benefit from knowing us too.

For those who don't know Fruition Capital, we also invest in self-funded search acquisitions and typically as the anchor investor. B2B deals only with EBITDA >$1M in old-economy industries (full criteria on our website - fruitioncap.com), and when we invest our typical equity check is ~$1M. Our team also has several exited operators so we're able to advise in addition to providing capital.
