Hello!

Has anyone worked with a 3PL provider that is licensed to ship tobacco products (50g - 250g units) to Europe? We are a smaller operation, and only ship 600-3,000 packages per month, and maintain an inventory of 3-4 pallets.

Cheers,

Patrick

I can't specifically recommend 3PLs for tobacco freight to Europe, but you may want to consider the following large players with US operations: DB Schenker, DHL, Kuehne & Nagel. We haven't imported/exported to Europe in years, but other companies we've worked with for Asia imports might be worth researching: APL, Mainfreight, AIT, PSA/BDP (start with DJS Intl, which they acquired).

Keep in mind that for LCL-sized shipments - even if regulatory is overcome - 3PLs might be hesitant to consolidate your freight with other products due to risks such as smell transmission and increased likelihood of container inspections.

You may also want to consider air freight as it could be just as cost effective after taking into account fully supply chain costs - containerization, clearance, breakdown, LTL, etc. FedEx and UPS have some interesting programs that allow for multiple destination shipments under a single clearance.
