A few months ago, I purchased a business with significant inventory (~500k on ~2000k of revenue) with a large number of SKUs. I have spoken with a few accounting firms who have offered assistance with taxes, bookkeeping, etc. However, I need an accountant that can help me introduce systems to better understand and control the inventory. Any recommendations?

You don't need an accountant. You need a consultant that specializes in your type of business and inventory. Use google and the name of your industry or the type of stuff you sell along with 'inventory management system' or 'consulting'

Not an accountant, but I own an inventory heavy business. We use QBO and a second platform called SOS Inventory to help with inventory visibility. It's a much better platform than what QBO has to offer. Not sure what your business' process flow is when it comes to orders but you can generate sales orders, pick tickets, packing slips and more in the platform. The platform ties into QBO for accounting purposes. That should cover you from an accounting perspective. From an operating perspective, as in, how do I figure out how much and when to order, there are some great inventory planning techniques in a book called "Factory Physics for Managers". That should help you think about how much inventory you should carry.
