Looking at joining one of these groups, any thoughts on the pluses/minuses of either one?

Is anyone having success being part of either one?

https://acquisitionlab.com/

https://acquira.com/

I'm a first-time searcher with healthcare industry experience, but am looking for a group for support, guidance and perhaps finding a partner within.

Thanks!

Just finding this thread and so proud of the praise. Thanks team!

I built the Lab to be the elite provider for acquisition accelerators--even though we were also the first. I felt others would come.

I know the founders of Acquira personally and I'll throw in that this is what makes the Acquisition Lab different:

It was critical to me that when we built the Lab, I wasn't personally benefiting from our members. I do not invest in the deals that go through the Lab because that to me would mean the business model would be to generate deal flow to me, with built-in operators who also have PG's on the SBA loan. We also take no referral fees, no sponsorships, no equity in your deal, no success fees, nothing.

Instead, I wanted to build the single best education, coaching, and resources with a vetted community. I wanted to forever keep the all-in price below 2-months of buyside advisor fees (typically only 0.85% of your acquisition price at a maximum), and I wanted to build a program that generated actual results. This assured me that all incentives are aligned.

We also have lots of members that aren't looking for money. Lot's of exited entrepreneurs or wealthy in some other way. This has also built a stronger community overall.

If you apply, there's actually a 70-75% chance you're not invited to enroll (probably not nearly that on Searchfunder). Lot's of people say they vet, but we actualy do. It's critical to the success of the program.

xo,

I did Acquisition Lab and would definitely recommend it. They expedite the learning process and lessen your time to success. I also feel their bi-weekly deal review with Walker and team of advisors (around 6 now with weekly meetings) are the most valuable aspect. Those two parts give you a support structure to get deal feedback or answers to very specific questions you may have from experienced business buyers. It's also great to see how other lab members look at the same deal and where you might be overlooking risks.
