Soon, we will be kicking off a QoE engagement for manufacturing company. The scope is fairly standard and the pricing is below what the big firms are charging. Engagement partner is easy to work with. Data room is extensive.

Lender does not require a QoE but the investors do.

First time going through this process, and now spending real dollars on DD so I wanted to ask: any advice on how to manage the engagement, costs, doc request from owners, process, scope?

Thanks for the tag ^redacted

A couple things:
- start with your investors - is there an individual/firm they have worked with in the past with whom they have had good experiences?
- ask your prospective bank partners the same question
- Is there any overlap between the two?
If so, great, there's your short list.
If not, take the names to your network. To some degree, you can rely on the brand of the firm but look at the background of the partner's to understand their relative depth of experience.

If all else fails, go with a national firm and follow a reasonable selection process - think: 3 quotes. The scoping and engagement proposals will likely all look pretty similar, and so as is frequently the case with professional services, it will likely come down to who you connect with the best.
