My team at OffDeal held a fun 24 hour hackathon to get an 80/20 impact of Trump's tariff bill on small businesses (virtually all of our clients are tweaking out about what's going to happen).

Obviously not perfect, but directionally right for most types of businesses.

If you are looking at specific deals, could be helpful to see how that business might be impacted so you know what to ask business owners. You can also share this with some owners you are working with if helpful.

Let me know what you think! :)

Very cool! I like the usage of checking the website to narrow down the industry (I've been using a similar capability myself for my competitive analysis needs). I'm curious about how you're estimating the impacts of various imports to come up with the overall COGS estimate, whether that is based on a template/model or just asking a ChatGPT blackbox. Some potential ideas if you wanted to continue to tinker with the recommend actions: 1) Highlight what goods can be easily substituted to a country with a lower tariff rate. (Price data is unlikely to be available, but finding other major exporters for the same commodity should be available). 2) Trump/Navarros consistent messaging is focused on reduction of bilateral trade deficits, tariffs on countries that have an easy path to reduction in the deficit are likely going to be temporary whereas others will likely stay in place a long time. That might require some more speculation than you are looking to include in this though.

Well the other tariffs are not "gone" they are on pause, but ya we had to update the tariff data TWICE in the 24 hours it took us to build this ha!

The inspo for the tool was that most owners we are speaking with don't have any clue which specific inputs are exposed, where they come from etc.

This is by no means a scientific analysis, but a quick 80/20 that gets the conversation going.
