Jerome - something we're exploring right now is raising from operators within the same industry but different geography. I took inspiration from ^redacted‌'s comment (4 years old now!) that it's difficult to raise on non-standard terms with 'standard' investors. I combined that with the idea of how search fund investors are essentially buying an option -in this case, the option helps the operator evaluate entering a foreign market and so provides strategic value- theoretically less constrained by traditional metrics like IRR. There are other searchers exploring crowdsourcing but I can't personally speak to that. Hope this helps...
