Any recommendations for Family Office Networking Clubs? I attended a Family Office Club event, I believe they are based out of Flordia. I was expecting access to Family Offices, but instead, it was a room full of service providers. I didn't gain any value from attending this event. What are some of your experiences with various Family Office Networking organizations?

I have attended several FOC events in Florida and New York as a family office CIO and found them to be well organized and having a good mix of capital raisers. service providers, and investors. The panels are usually well moderated and informative on how family offices are investing. These conferences are useful for networking and learning. Because they are large and the schedule is busy, you need to try to make appointments with family office representatives or other investors before the conference. Also bear in mind the cost of attendance is not very high. If your goal is to meet family offices one on one, I suggest looking into the Marcus Evans events. These are much smaller events and you will have the opportunity to interact with investors both in speed dating sessions and socially to present your project. The cost to attend these is however significantly higher. They are intended for those with an open offering and ready to take capital. One more thing: not many family offices are investors in search funds. So even if you are able to get in front of a decision maker odds are low. I believe you are better off finding out which private investors or families have invested in your industry, or getting a warm referral from someone else and then approach them directly. If you don't know who the investors might be in your industry or region, then a broad networking event like FOC and FOX (Family Office Exchange)can be places to get information, although not capital.

The best clubs would restrict the attendance of service providers, and curate lists of vetted groups. You typically need to be referred in by a member.
