Are Summer Interns Worth It?

Wondering if my fellow boutique M&A firms have found it worth while to bring on summer interns ( May to August). May and June are busy months for sure but I find deal activity falls off a fair bit in July and August. Looking to create a winning scenario for an intern as opposed to a make work project.

Thanks for the tag ^redacted‌ In my experience, summer interns are as useful as the time and effort you put into making their role meaningful. I found them really helpful for non-complex tasks like data entry and filling out pre-developed financial models, which freed up my time for higher-value work. But when it came to sourcing or identifying high-quality targets, they just didn’t have the experience to add much value. Overall, I enjoyed the teaching/mentoring aspect as well. If you can structure their role around tasks that genuinely help your workflow while giving them a solid learning experience, it can be a win-win.

Hi David, Thank you for the tag ^redacted‌. I am a student at Ohio State University and have some experience from Accounting and Finance Coursework as well as M&A research. I would love to contribute to your team in any capacity and think any experience very early in my career would be helpful. I have shared you my resume and would love to chat about how I can contribute to your team.
