Hey Carl,

I am ~6 months away from graduation and have started initiating conversations with investors/ LPs. My intent with starting early is to make sure the investors get to learn about my background/aspirations and I get exposure to their investment strategies through 2-3 rounds of 30 min discussions. This time-frame, I feel, will give me sufficient flexibility to do my own research on each investor before finalizing. From there I hope to find###-###-#### investors where our visions/expectations align.

I know some searchers who started almost 1 year in advance and others who succeeded in finding LP's within 2 months or so. I've also heard of searchers getting an investment commitment within 10 minutes of the first phone call. I suppose there is a wide range out there!

Cheers,
Sid

I prefer to talk to investors early and see if there are common interests. Also, may investors can give an opinion on the deal in its early stages. Always great to get an investors opinion even if they are not investing in the deal.
