Attending ACG events for broker & service provider networking?

There's an upcoming annual local ACG event in a couple of months. I've heard this can be a valuable way to build face to face relationships with brokers, but I also know that the M&A representation extends well beyond the lower middle market, so I'm wondering how showing up as a self-funded buyer resonates in this audience.
If you've been to an ACG event, how was it for broker networking? What worked best to represent yourself as a self-funded buyer? Advice for others considering this channel?
