Auto repair industry experience?
Does anyone have any experience in operating an auto repair shop? I have some general questions about the industry and issues to look out for when evaluating a potential deal.

Is auto repair a business model where an owner/operator needs to have work experience in a shop to have credibility with employees? Earning credibility in any business takes time and effort, but seems especially difficult here.

In my opinion, work experience is not necessary. But I think it is helpful to be knowledgeable about cars and perhaps have some DIY experience. If you have no idea what a brake caliper or a differential is, you will probably face some challenges. But you could learn most of what you need to know about cars as an owner over the course of a long weekend.
