Background check providers

Hi all,
For those of you that perform background checks on self-funded searchers and independent sponsors with whom you are considering investing - any recommendation on firms or services to use? I need something fairly fast and cost efficient - I will run reference checks separately, I am just looking for any red flags to be aware of.
Als- when in the investment process are you performing the checks? Pre-commitment? Or post-commitment but pre-funding?
