Building a B2B Marketplace -- Request Feedback!

Hi All -

I am actively searching for a business to buy, focused on services businesses, such as HVAC, plumbing, and pest control. Through my search, I found some gaps in the buying process in some of the biggest marketplace sites out there (e.g. BizBuySell). A friend of mine, who has been trying to sell his business for a long time, saw gaps on the seller side. So we sought to build a new marketplace that would make the buying and selling process easier. At launch, we will be focused on a very small number of verticals, so that we can really get the customer experience right (both buyer and seller).

My question to all of you: what features would you want to see that could set apart a buyer/seller marketplace, and make it meaningfully better than the alternatives?

Thanks Trevor! That's absolutely something we plan to do -- we think it will help both buyers and sellers. Our goal is to provide a number of metrics, beyond just revenue/EBITDA, that are relevant to each sector. I'll check out Crexi.

Thanks Roman. Yes -- we definitely realize that we need to be substantially better, given the dynamics of the two-sided model and the fact that if we don't have both 'inventory' we don't have a business. So the plan is to build unique features that create that value. Definitely a big challenge.
