We are considering engagement with buy-side advisors to accelerate our consolidation strategy per target outreach, diligence, negotiations etc. Curious if anyone has hired a boutique firm before, what there experience was, and fee structure?

I currently work at a boutique M&A firm (Baker Tilly Canada Corporate Finance). The fee structure is based off of hourly fees with a budget shared with the client prior to signing. That said, the budget vs actual can change based on the quality of material we are provided and the deliverable we are trying to achieve. Clients find the biggest value is the experience we bring to the deal (being able to sift through vast amounts of information and apply it to the deal), the simplicity of the report in terms of how easy it is to understand the company and applicable deal structure, and finally the reduced work load by the purchaser which gives them more time to focus on other aspects of work or more to focus on the overall deal structure.
