Hi All

We are updating systems and operations in a wholesale fresh produce business with a turnover of $20mil I would like to get an idea of a good inventory management system for such a scale. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

With that annual turnover, I would look into an ERP solutions rather than an inventory software. The latter wont be scalable and due to the lack of integration with other functional dept such as accounting, operations, warehouse, sales/marketing etc. it will cause more harm than good over time. The specific ERP solutions depends on different variables that are of importance to your org. I'd personally stay away from SAP due to complexity of its implementation. NetSuite has a lot of limitation on Supply/Demand analysis and Planning so if you have more than 1K of salable SKU's managing proper inventory/replenishment cycle method could be challenging. Dynamics Sales & Operations could be a good fit.

I'm guessing there's likely a system at least somewhat tailored to what you do - going to take some research though
I would suggest calling around to a few local VAR's (value-added resellers/implementers) of the major labels - Microsoft, SAP, Netsuite - and strike up a conversation. They'll be 'selling' you so hard the whole time, but it's just like the free gift at a timeshare preso - outwit, outplay, outlast, haha.
Seriously though, a contact of mine owned a VAR for years and once told me, 'if I told people how much work implementation is, I would never sell a single unit'.
If you have any sort of industry association, there's an avenue for you as well.
Good luck
