My background is in audit, several years as a senior auditor at KPMG and then a mid-market firm before I started Vertex. That shapes how I work: I look at a seller's financials the way a buyer's diligence team would, so you know what you're actually buying before you sign. For searchers, I do two things. Before close, I dig into the financials the way a buyer's diligence team would, normalizing earnings, documenting add-backs, testing revenue quality and customer concentration, and pressure-testing whether the asking price holds up. And if you've closed a deal and the books are a mess, I can get them cleaned up and keep them clean, so you've got numbers you can run the business on. I work best with self-funded operators and independent sponsors. The best time to reach out is when you have a deal under LOI and want a second set of eyes before you commit, or once you've closed and want the financials off your plate. On fees, everything is fixed and scoped to the deal, no hourly billing. Diligence usually starts with a focused red-flag screen that I credit toward a fuller engagement if you want me to go deeper, and fractional CFO support is a flat monthly retainer.
