I’m spending more time on HVAC in the NY Tri-State area as part of a broader platform strategy and would love input from anyone who’s gone deep in the space. Specifically, I’d appreciate perspectives on: Market dynamics unique to the region (labor, unions, pricing, permitting, seasonality, utilities) Acquisition considerations (quality of earnings, revenue mix, customer concentration, red flags) Best practices for scaling service-heavy HVAC businesses Recommendations for operators, GMs, or potential operating partners I’m also happy to connect 1:1 with anyone open to sharing lessons learned or resources. Thanks in advance.

Hi ^redacted‌ - nice to meet you. I have closed several deals in the HVAC sector in the past via the SBA. The biggest difference in New York HVAC is that growth is being driven by government energy laws, not just hot and cold weather, especially NYC’s Local Law 97, which forces large buildings to upgrade their HVAC systems to cut emissions, creating steady, long-term demand for commercial retrofits and electrification work rather than only seasonal service calls. Licensing is often a major gating factor in New York HVAC deals because much of the work legally requires licensed professionals (such as NYC Licensed Master Plumbers, Oil Burner Installers, and certified Refrigeration Machine Operators). This is especially true for the SBA. If you ever need help reviewing a deal, I am happy to help. We work with all the major SBA lenders. The bank pay us after your loan closes, so this is a 100% free service for you. You can email me directly at redacted or schedule a meeting with me: https://cal.com/francodeguzman/30min. Look forward to chatting!

Ryan, if you are looking outside of NYC proper and in the sub $2mm SDE range, I may have relevant experiences and insight. Happy to chat if you want to reach out directly.
