If you have used Carta lately to manage their cap table and distributions/communications - Pros and cons? Any better platforms?

I have experience as an investor in a VC fund, but not for driving admin of a Search Fund.

I see a lot of startups using Carta. My take is that it is expensive for a cap table management software, but it is inexpensive if you are using the 409A valuation services. Carta recently got into the fund administration space, but I don't know anyone that has used it yet. Alternatives to Carta for cap table management that I've had clients use are: Cake Equity (https://www.cakeequity.com/) and Pulley (https://pulley.com/). I don't have much information on those platforms, but it may be worth checking them out.

I work with startups and funds, and I've never heard of anyone using Carta for fund admin though I know they are pushing to get into the space. Reliant Fund Services is a name I've heard a few times. Maybe Angellist as well. The costs are not insignificant.
