Hi all,

What resources do you use to compile lists of business to contact via phone/email to inquire if they are interested in selling? And how do you ensure you are contacting the owner and not a general phone number/email?

With phone numbers it can be tricky sometimes. If it's a local business that you are dialing to, it might be the owner's number only and I would say that emails are far less active for such businesses.

But in a slightly bigger business, getting phone number of the key decision maker becomes impossible. However, with those business email works well. They usually have an email on their business domain and lead to them or their Executive Assistant only.

If the email is like, redacted redacted etc. then it might not reach the owner, but if it's redacted then it would lead to the right person only.

Hope this helps.

I provide email list building services to searchers and other businesses as well. If you need any help with building the list, you can drop me an email and we can speak further.

I have used a number of different list services in the past, and I have found The Refinery as one of the better ones because they perform an initial validation prior to sending us the list. In your list parameters, you can insist on only titles that include Owner, Founder, and Partner, along with all other SIC/NAICS Codes, Region, etc. We then put the list through another validation process as an added email check. As mentioned above, telephone numbers can be tricky, and we have found that the numbers are generally the main office line.
