Hi All,

I wanted to get thoughts on messages for sending mail or email messages to business owners seeing if they'd be willing to sell. I would also really appreciate if someone was willing to share an example of a message that they've sent or the resources they used to develop a good message. Did anyone have especially high success rates and if so, what do you think your differentiator was? Lastly, what's a good way to streamline data collection for the owners name and/or information? Thanks for your help!

Hello - I'm still in the early stages but I've found that leading with a piece of direct mail, followed by an email a week or so later has worked well. It takes a bit more time but the responses I've gotten back have made it worth it. Aside from a one page letter, I also include a one page overview of my fund, what we're looking for, and detail on myself. Hope this helps

Lots of different sources. On the free end (available free through some public library systems) is ReferenceUSA. Quality is so-so.

LinkedIn premium can work if you're trying to reach the types of owners that are on LinkedIn (not all are).

There are various premium databases too like SourceScrub that I've heard good things about but not used beyond a demo.
