Hey everyone!

We recently published a fairly comprehensive due diligence checklist for online businesses on our that I thought would be worth sharing.

We'll be constantly updating this so if you have any feedback — whether something was helpful, confusing, or you feel should be added — please let me know. Also happy to answer any questions!

I think as a high-level primer, your list is a great start. Good practical advice and an introduction to terminology and concepts that are important. My suggestion on the legal section is to at least mention the consideration of working with a qualified attorney that works with business transactions. And, I would add, a good accountant too. Purchasing any business involves a lot of risks and pitfalls that can be avoided or sidestepped with good legal counsel - buying an online business, especially when it is across state lines, is even more complicated and more costly to salvage if things fall apart. You'll want to build protections and safeguards in the diligence process in the LOI stage and before you sign a purchase agreement. There is a lot of value to be gained in talking through the structure of a deal by kicking the tires with professionals before you charge into it. Nice work on what you have so far, and thanks for sharing!
