Internally, you will want to work with an IP attorney if you do not already. The nature of the IP is essential here and can make the business more valuable -- does your IP create a defensible moat? Does the IP create usage-based or recurring revenue streams? Is the IP in a hot sector OR a compliance-heavy sector? Lastly, does the IP lead to network effects?
