Considering a B2B Industrial Service Franchise - Looking for Perspectives
After exploring SMB acquisitions for over a year, I'm now seriously considering starting a B2B industrial service franchise.

I'm evaluating two competing franchises in a highly fragmented market currently dominated by small, independent operators.
- Franchise A: Established market leader with approximately 200 locations nationwide. This company is the pioneer in the field, setting up a franchise when the entire market is made of small mom and pop shops. Territory of the major city is taken, but a territory north of the major city is available. - Franchise B: Relatively new competitor with around 20 locations, aggressively expanding. The entire market is still available. The bigger franchise is educating and building the market, so these guys want to capitalize on that and compete against them in every territory.
Both offer essentially the same core service. It feels somewhat like choosing between McDonald's and Burger King, except this industry is still largely dominated by mom-and-pop businesses and there are no national brands other than these two.
I have an option to go with the established brand, proven systems, and smaller territory, or take a chance on an emerging competitor with a larger market opportunity.
Has anyone faced a similar decision? Would you prioritize the established franchise system or the larger territory and growth potential? What questions/areas should I look for?
