I've been watching Dan Pena QLA Method on YouTube, and it appears he teaches ETA (entrepreneur through acquisition). His students have access to a vertically integrated ecosystem of bankers, lawyers, accountants (dream team). They're looking for the same unicorns as everyone here .

Are there any other people here who have followed the QLA method?

I would like to know the differences and the results of the Search Fund vs. QLA method.

It is a different mindset that takes to do QLA. I have met 3 successful QLA achievers - Canada, US, UK. And I have met a lot of searchers. Noticed just 1 difference - mindset, and you cannot do it working 40 hours a week (give or take 100 is minimum). If you follow QLA you should have noticed - he does NOT teach entrepreneurship of any types. It is the highest level of growth skill that he teaches which is not same as entrepreneurship. It is how Apple, Microsoft etc are run. And it has both debt and equity in creative ways. I met a cabbie some months ago and she claimed that "oh I know QLA so I dont need to pay a $$ to go to castle seminar.....". I doubted her conviction, then I was convinced with my doubt when I learnt that if she knows everything and still she is a cabbie then she knows "0". In my opinion Dan' in person seminar is not about learning the procedure (you can learn free from his website) it is about learning the mindset and staying in it consistently for years till you nail it. THAT IS HARD

Both are ETA with different names. QLA is similar to a self-funded search, deferred professional fees, with subsequent acquisitions to consolidate an industry. QLA places emphasis on entrepreneurship mentality, affirmation, passion, hard working, creating perception/first impression of success, building credibility by building a board of reputable directors. and getting it done by kissing a lot of frogs. Some search funds are already doing this way, without labelling it "QLA".

I listened to the recorded seminars about financing/equity options, deals and acquisitions during exercise. The recorded seminars have more details and are worth listening.
