Diligence on Contractor with Heavy Equipment

I'm under LOI on an underground water contractor and the business has an equipment base of mostly excavators plus backhoes, wheel loaders and pipe bursting machines. Would love to connect with anyone who's bought a company with a lot of heavy equipment, especially in construction, excavation or utilities. A few things I'm thinking through: How you got comfortable on equipment value (appraisals, who you used - mechanic?)
