Do search investors ever fund <1M EBITDA acqusitions?

If not, what is the typical deal size / range of search investors? Where else would be a good way to get smaller amounts of investment ie 500K apart from friends/family?

If you're looking for smaller check sizes, consider friends and family. You may not get the strategic benefits of the self-funded investor crowd, and there potentially major downsides to F&F investors, but a lot of folks would love to write a smaller check to diversify their investment base.

Otherwise, check with the usual SMB investor suspects, and ask for a quick 'no' if it isn't in their wheelhouse, it can't hurt.

I know of a few firms that have a remit for deal sizes in that range -- i.e. City Different Investments -- but there may be other criteria within their investment thesis that may preclude your deal -- region, etc.
