This is an industry of interest of mine, as well, but it is difficult to find investment research. One thing I have found is that some of the leading large public cos. in the space appear to be: Iqvia Holdings (NYSE:IQV), PRA Health Sciences (NASDAQ:PRAH), Syneos Health (NASDAQ:SYNH), and ICON PLC (NASDAQ:ICLR). The equity research analyst reports and MD&A's are relatively helpful in understanding the space and its competitive landscape.

Credit Suisse published a CRO Industry Primer in June 2016 that might help you even though it's a few years old. It's easy to find with a Google search. Capstone Headwaters has published some good reports on the pharmaceutical outsourcing industry. I'd also take a look at redacted and redacted.
