Anyone have any experience directly with an environmental consulting company? Sure, some of the revenue is non-recurring, but this specific company has a lot of recurring contracts and re-occurring revenue. They do asbestos, lead, air quality, soil quality, and other enviro testing services for construction and education markets (schools and real estate). They also do Phase 1 and Phase 2's. I can't find any searchers who've bought in this industry, even though I'm sure we've all seen a ton of these deals from brokers. This one is a prop deal.

I worked at an Environmental Testing Firm (air/water/soil testing) for 6 years. Happy to share my experience. This company was smaller side ~$3MM rev in###-###-#### Firm had ~20 Scientists/Technicians, 2-3 sales/key account managers, 1 CPA/controller, 1 SH&E manager, 1 Project Manager, 1 IT person, 2 admin/front desk, and 2 pt delivery personnel. Owner was sole proprietor from 1995-? Contracts with larger firms were the bread and butter, sub-contracts were shared with other engineering consulting and scientific analytical testing companies that had certain competencies. Locality is probably of highest concern for familiarity with local gov't needs, but can get certified in numerous states and handle business with local reps.

Nick feel free to call to chat...as you know from your banking days if you are on the “approved list” for a bank you can probably get some good recurring business. My concern would be of the roughly 100 phase I or IIs I have ordered between lending and buying property I do just view the service as a commodity and generally pick the best combo of price and turn time. If you can find a way to always be the quickest and cheapest I bet you could do really well and could roll a few up.
