I'm in the process of putting together a website for my self-funded search and would love to see examples from other searchers. If people wouldn't mind posting links in the comments, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

I didn't follow the typical model of a very general "looking to buy any business" searcher website. Instead, I did a very industry specific search and have completed my initial platform acquisition in that targeted space and also developed a large number of leads of potential future acquisitions. I have worked in this space for 30 years, along with being a business broker so I did have an advantage when it came to identifying sellers and getting the sale across the finish line. My website didn't really have anything to do with my initial acquisition, as it was a carve out from a public company, but now as I look to add smaller privately owned businesses as bolt on acquisitions it helps to let potential sellers know who I am, that I am a serious buyer, and that I am still looking to roll up additional businesses in the death-care space. https://www.clearstonememorialpartners.com/

If you are looking to make a fast, placeholder site that is borderline free, I can't recommend carrd.co enough. The $19/yr plan lets you use a custom URL so it meets the dead bottom criteria for looking professional. They emailed a Black Friday 40% off coupon (code: BF2023) the other day so it should buy you a year of online presence runway for less than a buck a month.

The biggest limitation is that you have to choose one of their templates, but I've found them surprisingly customizable. It will get you from zero to "more-than-zero" faster and cheaper than anything else I've found.
