Hi all, I'm starting a search and in discussions with potential capital partners. I'm considering both self-funded and traditional search. One area I'm trying to get sharper on is defining return structure/equity vesting for different partner and deal constructs that align incentives and appropriately compensate for investor risk & searcher performance. Would love to model out a few scenarios (e.g. based on different deal sizes, IRR, MOIC, whether self-funded vs traditional search, etc). Saw this post, which was a good starting point (https://searchfunder.com/post/excel-template-on-the-economics-of-a-traditional-search-fund). Have others modeled equity splits/vesting schedules in xls with blended IRR/MOIC metrics they'd be willing to share or discuss? Thanks! Pat

Appreciate you and your support, Allan. ^redacted‌, our Financial Model helps self-funded searches model equity returns and includes IRR and MOIC components. The template is offered as a resource to our community, along with an entire learning module. Drop me a note if you're interested. Would love to connect.

Have you already checked out the Acquiring Minds webinar with Sam Rosati and the model available with it? I highly recommend this for modeling self-funded search, and I think it could be made to work for traditional with a bit of editing. https://acquiringminds.co/webinars/how-to-model-a-self-funded-sba-acquisition?
