Excluded from opportunity due to not being the operator
I have just been excluded from a deal ( they had one fail to PE ) as I was not going to be the operator aquirerer? Anyone had that experience and managed to turn it around ?

I'm not sure I have, but the approach I'm taking is to not give too much info to the broker. for ex by saying "It really depends on each company whether and how much I'd be involved in the day to day... some businesses need real hands on, others are much better off if I don't mess with them... The best way for me to figure this out is to have a call with the owner and understand their goals and the companies situation."
Once on a call with the owner I find it much easier to make them like and trust me, and then they'll be more amenable to different ways of doing things.
Ultimately it's about showing them that you can get them what they're looking for. And btw I certainly don't call myself "PE", which makes most small business owners suspicious.

You have to get at the why that is their requirement in order to try to turn it around, need more information from the seller. I hope it goes well for you.
