I'm looking to connect with anyone with experience in the mobile MRI industry, whether on the manufacturing side, operations, customer, fleet management - any angle. Looking at a deal in the space and want to gain better understanding of market trends and outlook for the solution. Thanks

Hi Anon - nice to meet you. I've done several deals in this space. I'd zero in on three things as you dig into this: 1. The contracts are the business, not the equipment. Mobile MRI companies live and die by their service contracts with hospitals and imaging centers. The trailer and the machine are just the cost of entry. You want to understand how long the contracts run, what the renewal rate looks like, and how diversified the customer base is. A company with 15 solid contracts is a very different animal than one with 2 big ones. 2. Maintenance costs can make or break you. MRI machines are not simple equipment. The magnet runs 24/7 on liquid helium, parts are expensive, and you need specialized techs to service them. Ask what the annual maintenance run rate looks like and whether there are service agreements in place. If maintenance is being handled ad hoc with no coverage, that's a red flag. 3. Know which type of customer you're serving. Hospitals typically use mobile MRI for one of two reasons: (a) their in-house machine is down and they need interim coverage, or (b) they're too small or rural to justify owning a $2-3M machine outright. The first scenario gives you revenue that can be lumpy and hard to predict. The second is steadier but the customers tend to have tighter budgets. The mix between those two customer types will tell you a lot about the risk and revenue stability of the business. We have a lot experience financing various companies via the SBA. If you ever need help reviewing a deal, I am happy to help. We work with all the major SBA lenders. The bank pay us after your loan closes, so this is a 100% free service for you.
