Finding "pre-sale" business owners

Hi all, I'm seeking connections with entrepreneurs who may want to get their business acquired "one day", but have significant prep work to do -- months, or years -- to make the business attractive and ready for acquisition. Do you have thoughts on ways to find such companies/owners? Or perhaps you've come across some in your travels, and would be willing to make an introduction?

For example, perhaps a business needs to work on its profitability, or document key business processes, or automate elements of its operations and take advantage of newer tech like AI. Changes that require a significant amount of effort and also expertise that the business doesn't have in-house. My aspiration is to help entrepreneurs who are in that "pre-sale" mode and want expert help.

My focus so far: Companies headquartered in in the US or Canada, working in areas such as professional services (lawyers, real estate brokers), light manufacturing (e.g. niche product makers), transportation and logistics (e.g. independent trucking or delivery firms), or wholesale distribution. Annual revenues in the $2M to $20M range. (Acknowledging that's a wide range; the focus may narrow as I learn more.)

Typically the business owner I'm looking to help would be a "solo hero" who has grown the business from scratch and still holds all key leadership responsibilities, but has gaps in one or more key expertise areas such as sales, marketing, finance or tech.

Open to any ideas. Thanks for your consideration!
