One of my professors in business school has just learned about search funds and I'm trying to get at least one to be a search fund champion before I graduate. His main hang up is wanting to understand how the returns work for investors. I can model it out for him, but I figured there might be something else already existing that I could share. Looking for something with a traditional search, probably using SBA loans.

Thanks Pari. What I'm really looking for is a model that he can play with. I don't think many b-school profs have the bandwidth for an hour long video. I think this is what I was looking for: https://www.searchfunder.com/post/anyone-built-a-financial-model-that-mimics-the-stanford-primers-returns

Hey Chris - former TX-based searcher and partner in SIG here (searchinvestgroup.com). Our firm would love to establish a relationship with McCombs. Maybe you could introduce us to your prof?

There’s also a very simple model comparing returns with conventional and SBA financing on our website:
