We recently acquired a small manufacturing company and are working on replacing the ERP system. What are opinions on Netsuite vs. Business One?

Requirements:
* strong BOM management
* foreign currency transactions
* able to easily integrate add-ons and new business units
* Integration with e-commerce and simple interface for direct sales inputs
* Cloud based with strong API protocols for integration with other systems (like Hubspot)

As an ancillary question, which implementers would you recommend in the Pacific Northwest?

A digital transformation project is perhaps one of the most (if not the most) impactful decisions you would make as the new owner/operator in the company. The industry-specific business requirement that demands specific ERP functionality is what determines which ERP should be selected to deploy. For example, if you run a high-mix/low-volume electronic manufacturing company with multi-level complex BOM or manufacturing processes that are subject to routine re-visioning with complex product structure and tight engineering control processes, then Netsuite may not be a good choice due to the limitation of out of the box solutions and the need of integrated partner solutions. Netsuite, on the other hand, offers strong Financials functionalities (tho thru add-on solutions). Another important factor is that Business One is an on-premise solution, but Netsuite is exclusively cloud-based which limits your access to the back-end software for any workflow customization required on the business processes. If you are an engineer to order manufacturing and need to apply resources to manage customer-specific orders, then Netsuite offers stronger manufacturing management functionality with product costing features that comes in very handy. Happy to help with your ERP selection project.

Hi Jonathan. If you go with SAP Business One, John-Michael Davis from Tiger Sheep in Portland would be good to talk to. Tiger Sheep occasionally seems like they've got more work than they can keep up with, but they do excellent work and they always get it done. They're very knowledgeable on SAP B1. Send me a note redacted if you want his contact info. SAP B1 works for my business, but carpet/rug/upholstery cleaning might be more straightforward than your business.
