I would love how the experience is going post-acquisition
I'm looking at a few right now and trying to understand drawbacks and benefits of buying a marketing agency a bit more

I have helped clients buy marketing agencies using SBA and I actually sold a marketing agency where the buyer bought it via SBA. I’d love to help you find the right SBA lender for this deal. We work with all the major SBA lenders. The bank pay us after your loan closes, so this is a 100% free service for you. Depending on the DSCR, I think this deal might qualify for pristine pricing (7.63% fixed). As an equity investor I’ve looked at a boatload of marketing agency deals that I all said no to.

I actually own an agency (for 13 years) so know they can be great cash-flowing businesses (negative net working capital), but there are several warnings to watch out for.

1) How they get clients. Most agencies are founder-led. It’s hard to replace their reputation. Dig extra deep to verify counter claims.

2) AI risk. I’m not an AI doomsayer, but the risk to many agencies is very real right now.

3) Mediocracy. Agencies are frequently the first expense to be cut in economic downturns.
