If anyone has insight, how do business brokers generally source deals? Are they sending emails, letters, etc. or are they usually relying on existing relationships? Are there any practices that could be duplicated by an independent sponsor?

I am old fashioned. Please see the double space at the end of each sentence. If you reach out to me, I would be happy to share what strategies that I use, which are exactly the same as institutional deal sourcing methodologies. The reason, I ask people to reach out to me directly, is because I vet each Searcher, let them vet me, and then craft a tailored approach from our meetings, if there is a fit. Every investor has a distinct investment personality, with respect to risks. However, I caveat that I have no experience in funeral homes. Happy M&A! redacted

^redacted‌ thank you for the tag. I am not a business broker but from having worked with them for years I think they get them from a wide variety of sources including their referral network (attorneys, CPA's, bankers, etc.), calls, emails and mailers. I would recommend connecting with some of the brokers on Searchfunder to get more details from them.
