I feel like I've been stuck in the same place for years, unable to find a path forward when it comes to reaching my business goals. I've looked at buying a business already cash flowing as a viable path for me to get out of this rut but fear and lack experience in a new industry keeps me from moving forward. How do you manage your fears? Where do you turn to for guidance or getting more information so as to manage the risk as much as possible?

As far as doing something else totally different - for those of us mid-career, with families, and maybe lessons learned in the past where we moved to a greener pasture --- it can be hard to think about sacrificing your current comfort.
Three key points:
* Success is transferrable; you can do this - while luck [and privilege] don't hurt - a lot of the building blocks of success are universal.
* Instead of taking a leap - build a ramp/bridge. Some good gems here from this podcast: https://www.listenmoneymatters.com/how-to-quit-your-job-entrepreneur/
* Map potential outcomes --- when I have a larger decision to make, I will do a visualization exercise of a) what will happen if I do nothing b) what is the worst imaginable outcome if this decision is bad; what can I do to mitigate or reverse them if so c) what do I stand to gain / learn / earn if my decision is a good one. It makes it a little bit more choose your own adventure in a way and can minimize the 'fear' piece.
And lastly - is there a way for you to take a "trial" of an industry? You're a talented person - can you freelance or volunteer in another area to test drive it?

1. Know that you feel "stuck" because you know you're capable of so much more. It sucks in the moment but it's a clear indication that you're an ambitious and capable person. After all, someone without ambitions or goals can't feel stuck, they're fine with wherever they are.
2. You're not alone. Virtually everyone at some point feels stuck in life. Often, many times over at different stages in life. It's completely natural.
3. Start making progress toward something you want to do. No matter how miniscule the progress is, don't let the wheels stop turning. Before you know it, you'll gain momentum.
4. Take time to focus on your physical and mental well-being so when times get tough (as they always do), you have a solid foundation to rely on and don't topple backwards.
