Hi everyone! I am looking to connect with anyone who has experience with HVAC, especially in the states of Virginia and North Carolina. I would like to learn about the licensing requirements.

Thanks for the tag. ^redacted‌ - NC's licensing requirements are a lot easier to navigate than other states (e.g., California or Nevada). A business owner does not have to be licensed, but the company must have a licensed full time employee in order to be a "contractor." The license covers installation of HVAC systems. My understanding (I’d need to drill down on this more) is that service only HVAC companies do not need a contractors license in NC. I've done a couple of similar deals in NC requiring a license. Happy to chat - DM me or shoot me an email at redacted

I own HVAC in NC. You do need a license. You could also pay someone to use theirs, but then they have potential liability issues. In order to get a license, you need to pass the testing and have a certain amount of years. Here is more info: https://nclicensing.org/exam-information/
