Do you often see a huge difference in the profit margins between what IBIS say about the industry & Actual transaction in the space? I am asking as I am interested in buying digital marketing agencies but when looking at IBIS the margin seem way lower that it actually is

Hi ^redacted‌! IBISWorld industry reports typically mention Profit in two sections. First, in our Cost Structure Benchmarks chapter, we have EBIT (net profit before interest and taxes are deducted). We use the US Census as our primary source for this section.

Then, in our Industry Financial Ratios section, we have EBIT, Gross Profit and Net Income Please note that if you're using our 'Digital Advertising Agencies in the US' industry report, this is a non-NAICS industry. Therefore, the Financial Ratios that are most closely related are from the Advertising Agencies in the US report. This data is sourced from IRS SOI Tax Stats from the US Census Bureau. I hope this helps, but please feel free to send me a direct message if you need further assistance! ‌

^redacted‌- DealStats includes transactions of sold companies. Over 80% of the DealStats database is private transactions contributed to BVR from our contributor network. of business intermediaries. The other percentage of closed transactions are deals that BVR has researched from public filings, like the SEC filings here in the US, or SEDAR, in Canada.
