How do yours deals/businesses correspond with IBIS World industry reports? In companies I was involved with (which is few) they were used more like a quotas than a factual averages.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Luke! IBISWorld provides data on number of establishments and enterprises for a given industry. In each report, this data dates as far back as 20 years and our analysts also provide a 5-6 year outlook on growth. Establishments are operating units and Enterprises account for the larger conglomerates or holding companies (think Starbucks vs Starbucks Inc corporate offices). Some of the ways researchers use this information is to see how an industry is contracting or expanding. Further investigation will reveal which markets (states) are trending in line with or outpacing national growth. Outside of the major players (those with 5% marker share or greater), IBISWorld doe not provide a list of companies for each industry nor does it track deal activity. Hope this helpful but if you have further questions, feel free to drop me a message!
