Interest in Non-Mainstream Emerging Markets

I was wondering how much interest there is among investors in investing in companies that are outside the usual names in the emerging markets category - say China, Brazil, and the likes. Based on my past experience, I see some "juicy" companies in some of those fringe markets, but I am not sure whether the investors would be open to the idea of investing in a lesser known territory. Of course, he/she will still have the option to say no later, but this is more of an initial query on the interest level.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Wow. That's really cool. Navigating an Irish border backstop seems like a pretty minor risk compared with Maoist insurgents and minimal infrastructure. And yet, it seems to me that someone who is highly educated and experienced in business in the U.S., as you are, and who also is thoroughly familiar with the emerging market, would absolutely succeed with a small company in Nepal. Of course you would. It's just a matter of finding the right investors. Thinking aloud here, but if you'd really like to go to Nepal, it might be at least as easy to explain search funds to investors who are already interested Nepal and surrounding areas as it is to explain the benefits of the country to the usual search fund investors.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's the overall idea. Nepal's political scenario today is not too different from that in many of the more developed countries (by the way, Maoist insurgency issue has been solved now). It's just a matter of finding the right solutions. I am proposing Nepal as an option because the place carries some good investment potential but has been relatively less known in the international investors' community. That is where I hope to shed some light.
