Hello Searchfunder community!
I wanted to introduce myself in the hopes of making a deeper connection with all of the incredible SF contributors.
I'm a self-funded searcher and live in Dallas, TX with my wife and two kids. I currently work at J.P. Morgan full-time but started searching part-time early 2023, with the past ~4 months being more active and aggressive. My JPM clients are generally founders of privately held businesses (much larger than I'm targeting), and I've had much experience speaking directly with them about their transactions and the ups/downs of the businesses. I find the conversations with sellers easy and fun, as that's essentially been my job and how I develop business at JPM.
I've submitted 3 LOIs and am currently working on another, but no deal closed yet. I hope to change that by this summer, and am debating searching full-time.
Target Business: $1mm EBITDA and above; DFW based; business services focused
Funding: Self-funded up to ~$8mm EV; will raise capital beyond that if need be
Currently running a brokered search but am doing proprietary outreach for select industries. Would love to connect with searchers and share experiences, as well as discuss potential backing/capital raise opportunities with investors if that makes sense. My search has slowly brought my focus up-market, and I always planned on self-funding/owning 100% of the business; however, I realize I may need to raise equity to accomplish my goal, but still with a significant equity injection from me.
If any of the above resonates, I'd be happy to connect! In the meantime, I look forward to learning more from all of the wonderful people this ecosystem brings together.
