Robert, welcome! I'll be very honest with my advice. I was CRO of a top a16z portfolio company, MBA, Stanford Lead, you name it... My first day on a new major account after acquiring my business two days before, the cleaner didn't show up. So there I was, on my knees cleaning a bathroom. Nobody cared about my title, my degree, or my experience. In this ecosystem, corporate experience is not a guarantee of future success, sometimes the opposite, and sellers and brokers know it, and they don't really care. They only care about your ability to move fast, execute, and close. That's the game. Being business agnostic is a great way to waste plenty of time at the beginning, but it will help you understand the different opportunities. One more thing, competition is fierce. People say only 5% of searchers end up buying a business. Don't know if that's true, but it's very credible. You have to decide between waiting for the perfect company or getting into the acquisition ecosystem fast. That's up to you.

Hey Robert I'm going to shoot you an email. I think there is a lot of synergy between what we are building here at TriplePoint and the way you are looking at things.
