Local lumber yards and/or building suppliers - seeking advice from owners

Hi all,

Anyone have experience running a lumber yard or building supplier? I'm aware of some of the key challenges (e.g., commodity prices, low profit margins, competition from big box, cyclical housing market, etc.) yet I'm still seeing a few interesting deals. I'm attracted to the space and curious if it's worth pursuing despite the industry dynamics.
