Looking for a free CRM system

I am looking for a free CRM system. Is anyone using a simple CRM which they could share?
Excel is fine and probably easiest to use. 

I know that HUbspot offers a free one and there are free trials with others; however Excel or similar would be fine. 
Any help here would be most appreciated.

One could adapt Excel or Google Sheets to do many things you need, but my take is you will spend a good amount of effort creating formulas and filters to suit your need.
I started with free HubSpot and then migrated to paid, so I ported all my initial efforts seamlessly.

Hubspot offers a lot will get you going for free. Google sheets will do the job too, but if you want to eventually migrate to a paid version, Google doesn't provide anything beyond what you can do with Hubspot.
