Looking for a free CRM system

I am looking for a free CRM system. Is anyone using a simple CRM which they could share?
Excel is fine and probably easiest to use.

I know that HUbspot offers a free one and there are free trials with others; however Excel or similar would be fine.
Any help here would be most appreciated.

I've never used the free version of HubSpot but have extensive experience with the paid version and it's been great (I know now everyone agrees with that). As it pertains to ETA/Searchfund work, I just used a Google Sheet to track who I've talked to. Revenue/EBITDA numbers, etc. - for me, it's not complicated enough nor did I have deal flow volume to support any other tools but I realize that's not true for everyone.

One could adapt Excel or Google Sheets to do many things you need, but my take is you will spend a good amount of effort creating formulas and filters to suit your need.
I started with free HubSpot and then migrated to paid, so I ported all my initial efforts seamlessly.
