Looking for advice on HVAC licensing in MI

I'm considering to buy a small HVAC/R business that serves MI and IN customers. MI has an extremely onerous licensing for mechanical/HVAC contractors, so it won't be realistic for me to obtain such a license in my own name. The seller offers to allow use of their license for 5 years to enable the sale. I would like to understand what other options are commonly used in MI by HVAC business owners who are not mechanical contractors themselves. I can imagine: 1. Using a consulting business that maintains a pool of licensed professional who they farm out to businesses that need a license 2. Finding some magic path towards getting a license into my own name. I have a masters in engineering physics, so I have a good understanding of how HVAC devices operate. Already got my EPA 608 universal certification, just in case. 3. Mentoring a member of the team to obtain the certification. Retain such team member by offering market-appropriate incentives. Is anyone familiar with MI HVAC licensing and workaround for that? Any information about common market rates offered to license holders in compensation for the use of their license?

I've seen many investors deal with the same problem. I'd lean toward options 2 and 3. I've also heard of many people finding contractors that are looking to retire soon and paying them a monthly fee to use their license.
