I own and run a group of 3 small e-Commerce businesses in the UK which I started from scratch some years ago. Now looking to generate "growth by acquisition" to grow the group into a much larger entity (whilst simultaneously growing the ones I already have).

I've only just started out on my search and currently doing everything on a self funded basis for the moment.

I'm looking for investors and business opportunities in this space and would be happy to talk to anyone who has any contacts or info.

As an experienced business owner of 15 years, I'm also happy to offer any advice to anyone that wants a second opinion on something, particularly in the B2C eCommerce/Retail arena :-)

Yes you might be right. I will certainly be contacting them in my search to see what they have. I know there are a number of multi-country listings which could be of interest.

With my existing companies, I have a warehouse, customer service team, marketing team, web developer etc. already on hand. My plan is to acquire other ecommerce businesses that I can plug into my current infrastructure so that they immediately benefit from synergies of combined resources (where appropriate!).

Having said that, we are very UK focused at the moment so the acquisition of US or other international businesses will help for the wider global offering of the group.

Certainly not going to discount empireflippers.com! But would probably need investors on board before I can go too far down that road.

Depending on the nature of you e-commerce businesses, you should look at taking over businesses in mainland Europe. That would definitely enhance your chances of getting PE/VC backing at the time of buying. Being global and scalable is one of the key elements they look for.
It will be easier to find synergies as well between business, as you can probably bank on having one core platform running the data, and the site being satellites. It will make it more attractive to prospective investors/buyers down the line.
Assets on e-commerce businesses are difficult to value, and it tends to go down to how those fit with the buyer's strategy more than their pure value.
