My tax advisor in Lüneburg is a typical successor who recently took over a tax advisory firm from a retiring owner. I know that he's looking into growing inorganically. According to him, the key challenge in growth is not the demand side (they're regularly turning down new clients), but rather the supply side (i.e., skilled personnel). The problem he has seen is that many retiring owners whom he has spoken with demand unreasonable multiples.
